About Mazza Gallerie Redevelopment
5300 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington DC
The 294,000 sq. ft. shopping mall constructed in the late 1970s, and is directly connected to the Friendship Heights Station.
Redevelopment plans call for demolishing the above-grade portion of the mall while retaining the retail pavilion and the existing four levels of below-grade parking. The mall will be transformed into a 7-story, 325-unit apartment project with 25,000 sq. ft. of retail along Wisconsin Avenue.
The new design of Mazza will include a striking new facade along Wisconsin Avenue, along with a central atrium for amenity spaces.
The units will range from studios to two-story townhouses to terrace penthouses. The project will have a number of internal courtyards for residents.
Approximately 40, or about 9% of the units will be inclusionary zoning (IZ).
