534 Coney Island Avenue Update 02/12/24

11-Story Mixed-Use Development Approved in Kensington

By issuing no veto, the NYC Mayor's Office has green-lit a proposal for an 11-story, mixed-use building, which would be constructed at 534 Coney Island Avenue in Brooklyn's Kensington neighborhood. Submitted by applicant, Remica Property Group Corp, the proposal requested zoning map and text amendments to facilitate the project.

The building is set to contain 43 rental apartments, with approximately 11 of those units to be reserved for affordable housing. Plans also call for 3,457 square feet of ground-floor retail space, and an enclosed parking garage, with enough room for 19 vehicles.

The lot totals 10,160 square feet and is currently occupied by a stand-alone KFC restaurant location. This will have to be demolished in order to make way for the new development.
