33-Story Condo Tower Rises on the Upper East Side
General contractor, , has now formed over half of the superstructure for a 33-story, residential tower, going up at 1299 3rd Avenue on Manhattan's Upper East Side.
Developed by and known as "THE 74", the building will contain just condo units. Given their size, these will presumably be luxury residences. Units will be offered in two to five-bedroom configurations, as well as a duplex penthouse. The development will also consist of a detached townhouse unit.
Tenant amenities are to include a fitness center with a pilates studio, a catering kitchen, a conference area, a lounge, and a private garden. Plans also call for square feet of commercial space, which will likely come in the form of ground-floor retail.
The project site is alternately addressed as 201 East 74th Street and the building will have a side entrance on East 74th Street in addition to its lobby entrance on 3rd Avenue. The townhouse unit is located on East 75th Street and foundation work for that structure is currently in progress.
The building employs a unique, cantilevered design, and it partially hangs over a low-rise building situated next door. The tower is also going up right next to 200 East 75th Street; a separate and unrelated, 18-story high-rise project, which is also under construction at this time.
Designed by , 1299 3rd Avenue will stand feet tall and total square feet. Construction is estimated to finish by the summer of 2025.
