Melnea Hotel and Residences site and utility work expected this fall

Banker & Tradesman reports that site and utility work at the Melnea Hotel and Residences site is expected to commence this fall, enabled by a $1.6 million MassWorks infrastructure grant awarded to the project, according to Urbanica President Kamran Zahedi. Urbanica is reportedly in talks with lenders to secure additional financing for the project and is in ground lease negotiations with the Boston Redevelopment Authority (BRA) for the 1.3-acre Melnea Hotel and Residences site located at the corner of Melnea Cass Boulevard and Washington Street, which is owned by the city and state. A six-story, 108-room Marriott Residence Inn hotel and a six-story, 50-unit residential rental apartment building with a total of 8,000 square feet of retail will be constructed as part of the Melnea Hotel and Residences project. This page will be updated with additional information as it becomes available.
