City of Clearwater Negotiating to be Fixed Base Operator at Airpark

The City of Clearwater could be the fixed base operator of the Clearwater Airpark.  The city has entered negotiations with Paradise Ventures and FlyUSA to become the fixed base operator of an improved airpark.  A new state of the art terminal would be the center piece of Clearwater Airpark.  A development partnership between Paradise Ventures and FlyUSA, seeking to become the next fixed base operator, has proposed improvements to the airpark.  The plans would add 40,000 square feet of new hangar space and the establishment of FlyUSA’s headquarters.  In June 2022 the City of Clearwater solicited proposals to enter into a 30-year lease agreement to renovate and manage the airpark, which is 80 years old and is the home of the Tampa Bay Flight School, Vertical Flight and Tampa Bay Aviation.  Paradise Ventures and FLyUSA earned the highest ranking of the proposals.  FlyUSA and Paradise Ventures will meet with the Florida Department of Transportation and other stakeholders later this week.
