Construction Moving Forward at Edge District Development in St. Petersburg

Construction is moving forward at Viv, a mixed-use development on 1st Avenue N. in the Edge District in downtown St. Petersburg, the framing has reached the ninth floor on one building and eighth floor on the other building. Viv will feature two residential towers along with retail space.  The two 15-story residential buildings will contain a combined 269 rental units, starting on the 5th floor.  On the lower four floors, there will be space for 15,500 square feet of retail and 4,400 square feet of space for a leasing office and two resident lobbies.  The 5th floor will feature residential units along with indoor amenities, an outdoor pool deck, and a landscaped courtyard. The 6th-14th floors will contain 24 residential units per level, or 12 per building.  A roof deck on the 15th floor will offer views of St. Petersburg.  Plans also call for a pedestrian walk, with retail space, along Baum Avenue with a park at the corner of 1st Avenue and Dr. MLK Jr. Street.  Currently on the site there are two vacant office buildings, two surface parking lots and the former Shirley Ann Hotel, which has been vacant for three years.  The existing buildings will be demolished before construction begins.  Completion is expected in 2025.
