Converge Mixed-Use Project Approved in West Falls Church

The Fairfax County Board has approved Rushmark Properties and HITT Contracting’s proposal for a mixed-use development on Virginia Tech’s Northern Virginia Center in West Falls Church. Plans call for a 270,000-square foot collaborative office-educational facility which will include up to 230,000 square feet of office use and up to 40,000 square feet of institutional use. The office component will serve as the corporate headquarters for HITT Contracting; the institutional component will be comprised of laboratory space operated by Virginia Tech, to be known as the National Center for Smart Construction. The building will aim for net-zero carbon emissions and include a 100,000-square-foot solar panel array. The development also includes a 13-story, 440-unit multifamily building along with a 7,500-square-foot pocket park and a 43,000-square-foot civic plaza at the median of West Falls Station Boulevard.
