Craig Skurka Promoted to Operations Manager in Massachusetts for Gilbane Building Company

As part of its New England growth strategy and vision, Gilbane Building Company is pleased to announce that Craig Skurka has been promoted to operations manager in Massachusetts.

Beginning his career with Gilbane as an intern in 2005, Craig joined the firm full time in 2006 in the accounting department, where he successfully managed over $100 million in individual project budgets for longstanding clients, such as Citizens Bank, Verizon, and the Boston Red Sox. Craig’s driven vision, attention to detail, and leadership abilities allowed him to quickly advance in his career, eventually being promoted to controller of Gilbane’s Massachusetts business unit.

In 2017, Craig pivoted his career to an operational focus and transitioned to a project executive role within Gilbane’s Special Projects Group (SPG) in Massachusetts, where he was promoted to co-director in 2018. Managing a team of 60, Craig instigated SPG’s steady growth and has overseen numerous successful projects for notable clients, including the Sam Adams Tap Room, new WHOOP Headquarters, TD Garden Expansion and Off-Season Projects (2020, 2021, and 2022), Haemonetics Headquarters, and ElevateBio’s lab/office fit-out, to name a few.

“In this new role, Craig will ensure the successful execution of our projects by assembling high-performing teams and focusing on the development of careers for sustained growth in Massachusetts,” said Mike O’Brien, senior vice president and business unit leader for Gilbane. “We have tremendous confidence in Craig’s ability, I am very excited to see him excel as a leader and mentor to so many employees and those who benefit from his community outreach.”

Craig earned a B.S. in finance from the University of Rhode Island in 2005. He serves on the board of the North Atlantic States Carpenters Labor Management Program, Muscular Dystrophy Association of Boston, and the AGC of Massachusetts. Craig has been an active coach for youth sports for the past 12 years, coaching all three of his children, and providing inspiration and guidance for young athletes. He resides in Cumberland, Rhode Island with his family.
