Demo Permits Issued Ahead of Transitional Housing Project in Bed-Stuy

Demolition contractor, Celtic Services NYC, has obtained permits to raze a pair of 3-story, mixed-use buildings, at 510 Gates Avenue in Brooklyn's Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood, in order to make way for a brand new, transitional housing development.

Developed by , the 6-story building is set to contain 200 beds for formerly homeless adults.

The development will also feature resident lounges on each floor, a rear terrace, a private dining room in the cellar, and several classrooms for vocational training and social services support.

Designed by , the structure will stand feet tall and total square feet. At this time, a construction timeline is not immediately clear, but we do know that upon completion, 60 tenants, who currently live next door at 520 Gates Avenue (also owned and operated by ), will be relocated to the new development. This will allow a 2nd phase to be carried out, which will extensively renovate that structure so both buildings can provide modern accommodations and facilities.
