Foundation Work Underway for 600+ Unit Development in Jamaica
About a month ago, we were able to catch a glimpse of the Archer Towers project as our train passed through Jamaica, Queens. The 90,000 sqft site was at that time just an excavated hole in the ground, with workers drilling the initial foundation piles.
Fast forward to now, and the progress made is quite visible. The footing has been set, and sheets of rebar have been laid in order to pour the reinforced concrete foundation. A strong base is exactly what Archer Towers will need though because this development is a hefty one. Joint developers, BRP Companies, and JLL Capital Markets plan to fill the 542,000 sqft. building with 605 housing units (comprised of 481 market-rate apartments and 181 mixed-income units).
The 24-story design by Studio V Architecture also manages to incorporate 224 parking spaces as well as 20,000 square feet of amenity space (including everything from a pet spa to a golf simulator). That being said, we're excited to see the work at Archer Towers progressing, and it'll be interesting to see how different the site looks given another month's time.
