Historic Midtown Co-op Prepping for Demolition
Days are numbered for a historic 12-story building at 417 Park Avenue in Midtown. The pre-war structure, which dates back to 1916 was long home to a 28-unit, luxury co-op. It now stands shrouded in construction netting as prep work continues before its demolition. GDSNY and Swedish developer, Klovern AB, purchased the entire co-op for $184 million in order to tear it down and redevelop the land. It's unclear what will occupy the 8,725 sqft lot next, but it will likely be redeveloped in accordance with the Midtown East Rezoning Plan.
