Large Hospital Expansion Breaks Ground in Bay Shore

Construction, recently broke ground on a 6-story addition at South Shore University Hospital (SSUH), in the Long Island hamlet of Bay Shore.

Excavation and site preparations are currently in full swing as subsurface utilities are installed and initial foundation work begins.

, and known simply as the "South Shore University Hospital Pavilion", the expansion will consist of 90 private patient rooms (boosting SSUH's inpatient bed count to 400), 10 operating rooms, and three additional procedure rooms.

The expansion will also create new green areas, public spaces, and a sky bridge that connects to the main hospital building.
