270 Nostrand Avenue Update 10/22/21

Minor Setback Encountered for Brooklyn Mixed-Use Development

A sizable mixed-use development proposed for 270 Nostrand Avenue in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn is currently in public review. BRP Companies plans to build a 444,289 sqft building with 487 residential units. The 14-story structure was designed by GF55 Partners and will stand 154 feet tall. Though the vast majority of the space is dedicated to residential use, the building will also include over 20,000 sqft of retail area, a 95-vehicle parking garage, and a 1,128 sqft community facility. BRP East Brooklyn Development, LLC is requesting a zoning map amendment in order to facilitate the project. The project was recently approved by the City Planning Commission (CPC) and sent to the City Council. Unfortunately, after review, the City Council has referred a modified application back to the CPC for revision. The CPC is reviewing it now and will have to approve it for the application to proceed.
