Plans Presented for Redevelopment of The Original Mount Vernon School
Fairfax County has presented updated plans for the redevelopment of the Original Mount Vernon School. The building which sits on a 22-acre site was constructed in 1939 and is a classic example of Colonial Revival architecture. Plans for the $81M project call for the creation of a “Human Development Center” which would provide pathways to opportunity through education, workforce development, and life skills development programs. Construction is expected to kick off in Fall 2022 and last through Fall 2024.
