Sutter Avenue Rezoning Update 03/02/22

Sutter Avenue Rezoning Proposal Creeps Through Public Review

A proposal to rezone 1377-1385 Sutter Avenue in Brooklyn's East New York neighborhood will soon be sent to the City Council. All the way back in July of 2020, Almonte Lincoln LLC applied for zoning map and text amendments to facilitate a new, 5-story mixed-use building that would be built in place of the existing properties. It would contain 28 apartment units as well as retail on the ground floor.

The project finally entered public review in October and has since been evaluated by Brooklyn Community Board 5, the Borough President, and the City Planning Commission (CPC), garnering positive feedback from each of these committees. Once in the hands of the City Council, they will have 50 days to hold a hearing and vote on the proposal. It will then be transferred to the NYC Mayor's Office where a veto or a final stamp of approval will be issued.
