Drexel Village Update 10/16/23

Three Building Drexel Village Project Now Under Review

The Planning Office for Urban Affairs & JGE Development has submitted project plans for the Drexel Village development. Plans call for 3 mixed-use buildings across 13 contiguous parcels in Roxbury. The project would include 217 residential units total, 75% of which would be income-restricted, along with 1,600 square feet of retail space, 2,000 square feet of community space, 11,900 of space for a daycare to be operated by Action for Boston Community Development, and 21,000 square feet of parish space for St. Katharine Drexel Parish Church. The tallest of the 3 buildings would be along Tremont Street at 14 stories. Plans also include 60,000 square feet of open space to include public art aimed at showcasing the rich cultural history of Roxbury. Per the project filing, the development team hopes to create a "Celebratory Gateway to Nubian Square and the City of Boston."

Jonathan C. Garland, President | JGE Development LLC tells BLDUP, “It’s rare in urban redevelopment to come across the opportunity to create a mixed-use assemblage that truly meets the needs of a multicultural, multigenerational community with a diverse range of socio-economic backgrounds – however our vision for Drexel Village does just that. On behalf of the Planning Office and our team here at JGE Development, we remain grateful to our steadfast community partner; the St. Katharine Drexel Parish, the Roxbury neighborhood, and the community at large in reaching this critical milestone. We look forward to continuing the robust dialog and delivering a project that benefits the Roxbury community for generations to come.”
