Topping Out at Parcel I at The Yards
Sitting between the Nationals ballpark and the Anacostia River, construction of Parcel I at The Yards is well underway. SK&A Structural Engineers joined Brookfield Properties, HITT Contracting Inc., and Perkins Eastman for the Topping Out celebration.
Built to #LEED Gold standards, Parcel I will feature 379 apartments and 16,000 SF of ground-floor retail.
Of particular engineering interest is the double-height fitness #bridge. On June 18th, two 100-foot trusses for the bridge were lifted into place.
Toby Millman, SVP of Brookfield, commented “The design of the fitness bridge adds a unique silhouette to the development, which will continue The Yards’ style of dynamic and thoughtful architecture to the neighborhood.”
The anticipated completion for Parcel I is Fall 2023. It is one of the many projects SK&A has worked on in The Yards Phase I and Phase II developments.
Once Phase II is complete, The Yards will be the largest waterfront development in the DC Region.
