Wu Administration Moves to Break Up BPDA, Shifting Planning to City Hall
In her State of the City address, Boston mayor Michelle Wu announced her administration will begin breaking up the Boston Planning and Development Agency this year, shifting project review and approvals directly to the Wu Administration at City Hall.
Additionally, Mayor Wu proposed the remaining functions at the BPDA will be to coordinate use and development of city-owned land, and suggested giving land to developers for free who will use it for deeply-affordable, income-restricted housing.
The announcement comes a week after the administration made several major announcements including the reintroduction of rent control in the city, capping increases at 10% every six-month cycle, and building height limits within Downtown Boston.
