A new lodging facility will feature 90 luxurious, oversized guestrooms with spacious balconies, built in two separate locations and in two phases within the City of Dunedin. The facility is being built for the Toronto Blue Jays baseball team, which built a new 65-acre, 115,000 square foot player development center in Dunedin. Each location will feature a building outfitted with the highest quality finishes, furnishings, security, and technology as well as standard amenities such as a swimming pool, meeting rooms, dining areas, a laundry, and a fitness center. The first phase, the Grant Inn, began construction earlier in 2022. Construction on the second phase, the J Hotel, which will feature 68 guestrooms, began construction in January 2023. The J Hotel will be utilized primarily by the Blue Jays during spring training and a smaller number of rooms will be available to the general public during certain times of the year.
