Lighthouse School has selected Erland and TBA Architects to construct a new 23,000sf school building, designated the Breakwater House, on their growing campus in Chelmsford. Lighthouse is a 56-year-old not-for-profit institution providing educational, vocational, and therapeutic services and treatment to special needs students ages 3 to 22. Breakwater House, which will be built next to the school’s existing 50,000sf facility on Wellman Ave, will accommodate curriculum and educational services currently being held in a leased space across town. The scope of work includes an indoor play space, library, art room, nurse and teaching offices, and much-needed additional classrooms to continue promoting total life development. Erland will also construct a parking lot in addition to the covered spaces the new building provides. This is Erland’s first project with Lighthouse School.
