Permit Details: Previous owners did not properly secure railings before sale of house. Current railings are notsecured to porch and railings are very unstable. Sidewalk under stairs is cracked and unevenand has resulted in falls and twisted ankles.Proposed work:1. Move stairs on front porch and assess the foundation of porch for reattachment. Likelythat porch foundation is in good condition as the porch support seems to be in goodcondition from crawl space inspection. Sand and paint stairs, railings and posts.2. Remove 4 portions of concrete sidewalk (currently uneven/broken up presenting a safetyrisk to home owners and tenants).3. Frame and replace sidewalk with same style sidewalk as was previously in place.4. Reattach stairs with any repairs to improve longevity of stairs.5. Remove, powerwash, sand and paint all porch railings.6. Remove current rotted posts and replace with a notched Pressure Treated 4x4 which willbe bolted into the porch foundation and secured from below for improved safety andstability. Build and paint a small box around the post to mimic the previous style of post.7. Reattach railings to secured posts.All work done will be made to look the same as previous style with updated paint. No syntheticmaterials will be used and the overall look will be preserved. Current problems present a safetyhazard and need to be addressed immediately.
