Waterfront Warehouse Conversion

About 10 Duke St.

Old Town, Alexandria

Originally constructed in 1856 as a coopers shop by the Alexandria Flour Company and part of the Pioneer Mills complex this former waterfront warehouse building is being converted into a market and restaurant at Robinson Landing. The adaptive re-use design approach reestablishes and showcases the building’s history as a light industrial facility while incorporating current building systems and amenities. The historic building fabric of brick walls and heavy timber roof trusses are paired with the clean and unobtrusive detailing of new elements, like the industrial-scale glazed entry and interior open stair.
