The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority is planning to expand the Washington Dulles International Airport in Virginia. Plans have been proposed to replace the old gates at the eastern end, which is currently used for regional flights, with a new concourse, Concourse A, a new 14-gate concourse at Washington Dulles International Airport in Virginia, US.

The Airports Authority is working with United Airlines, as well as other airlines, for consultation regarding design and building, as well as financing the new concourse. It will include new restaurants, retail shops and other services, along with the latest aircraft-servicing technologies.

The concourse will have access to the underground Aerotrain tram system of the airport, and will upgrade aircraft maintenance facilities and bring make comfort and conveniences upgrades for travelers navigating the airport.

The proposed 14-gate facility will provide larger waiting areas areas, airline lounges, concessions, ADA-compliant restrooms and other amenities.

The new concourse will provide larger operational areas for baggage, maintaining aircraft and providing support functions. The airport authority has submitted an application to secure $230m funding from the Federal Aviation

Administration to begin construction on the project. The new 400,000ft facility is expected to cost a total of $500 to $800M.
