Permit Details: EPERMIT Description of Work: Snohomish County PW is proposing to reduce flooding on Sauk Prairie Road at Bridge 631, approximately 3 miles northeast of Darrington. The flooding is caused by sediment aggrading in the channel of Mouse Creek and causing flows to avulse towards a small culvert just east of the bridge. Sediment has accumulated at the inlet and outlet of the culvert and is blocking flows. Phase I work included excavating the stream channel upstream of the roadway; this area was not in a flood hazard area. Phase 2 proposes to excavate sediment from the channel downstream of the roadway. This area is within the 100-year floodplain and 500-year floodplain of the Sauk River; it is not within a floodway. Approximately 494 cubic yards of sediment will be removed; 64 cubic yards from a small U.S. Forest Service property immediately adjacent to the roadway, and 430 cubic yards from the Turner property. Please see the Project Description/Narrative for more detailed information.
