City Council Approves Redevelopment of Westshore Plaza

 

 

The Tampa City Council has given the first approval for the redevelopment of the Westshore Plaza Mall, allowing the project to move forward. Ohio-based developer and property manager Washington Prime Group filed a rezoning application with the City of Tampa for the redevelopment of shopping mall Westshore Plaza. The redevelopment of Westshore Plaza is a reimagination of a significant portion of the property, focused on adding new and exciting retail, dining and entertainment options, upscale residential units, and more. A true mixed-use redevelopment plan.  The plans call for the demolition of the existing mall. The new development will include 901,381 square feet of retail, 380,000 square feet of office space, 120,000 square feet of medical office space, 1,765 multifamily residential units, a 2,5600 square foot hotel or motel, 133,119 square feet of restaurant space, a 77,357 square foot recreational facility and a Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority (HART) transfer station. Westshore Plaza currently offers 1,093,850 square feet of space. Retail tenants include Macy’s, AMC Movie Theater, JC Penney, Footlocker, Old Navy. Restaurants include Maggiano’s Little Italy, Besito Mexican, PF Chang's China Bistro. Located in the Westshore Business District, just west of downtown Tampa, Westshore Plaza is located off Interstate 275. The district offers more than 4,000 businesses; 102,000 employees; over 12 million square feet of office space; and 8,200 rooms in 42 hotels, one of the largest hotel markets in the country.
