Howard University Proposes Rezoning of 26.5 Acre Central Campus Site
Howard University has filed a map amendment requesting to rezone the property generally located on the east side of Georgia Avenue, NW, from Euclid Street south to Florida Avenue. The 26.56-acre site within Howard’s Central Campus primarily consists of the Howard University Hospital, the Howard University College of Medicine, Howard University auxiliary services, and various retail uses. The University proposes to rezone the Property from RA-2, PDR-2, and PDR-3 to MU-9A and MU-10. The MU-10 zone is intended to permit medium- to high-density mixed-use development. Per the filing, the requested rezoning will allow the property to be put to more productive use, thus contributing to the ongoing revitalization of the Mid-City Planning Area and the neighborhoods located near the Property.
