WC Smith Requests 2-Year Extension for Square 695 Project
WC Smith has requested a two-year extension on approvals for the Square 695 project. Plans, approved in February 2022 call for a new, 130-foot residential building containing approximately 520 dwelling units, ground floor and rooftop amenity space, and approximately 296 vehicle parking spaces. Per the filing, the extension request is prompted by delays associated with the South Capitol Street Project, a significant reconstruction of the South Capitol Street corridor. Parts of the corridor renovation still require funding, and DDOT is still finalizing the streetscape design and other elements of the revamped South Capitol Street corridor. Once the design of the South Capitol Street Project is finalized the developer is in a position to deliver the project as expeditiously as possible.
