YES The existing space has a narrow hallway that is to be used for required restrooms and an egress access path to the second means of egress. The restrooms and access path cannot both fit if the lavatories are located within the restrooms. We are requesting a code modification to allow the required number of lavatories to be located outside of the toilet rooms directly adjacent within the hallway. Is the requested modification is in compliance with the intent and purpose of the Construction Codes? YES The correct number of toilets and lavatories are provided in the proposed design, but because of space constraints in the area of the restrooms, the lavatories cannot be located within the same room as the toilets. We are proposing to locate two lavatories out in the corridor directly adjacent to the toilet rooms.
