[Please identify by specific citation to Title 12 of the DCMR or to the International Codes as applicable.] 2017 DC BUILDING CODE SECTION 716.5: Opening Protectives in a fire wall. 1) Are there specific individual reasons that make the application of the strict letter of the Construction Codes impractical? If YES, Explain: YES, To our knowledge, there are no existing fire glazing products that carry a 3-hour fire resistance RATING. 2) Is the requested modification is in compliance with the intent and purpose of the Construction Codes? If YES, Explain: YES, We are proposing an alternative protection strategy using sprinklers on both sides of the glazing. This is supported by an ICC tested assembly. 3) Does the requested modification lessen health, accessibility, life and fire safety, or structural requirements? NO. (If YES, Explain)
