$4M Electrical Permit Pulled for Haymarket Hotel McDonald Electrical Corp has pulled a building permit valued at $4M for the install of new electrical for the hotel coming to 99 Blackstone Street. The Canopy by Hilton will offer 212 guest rooms along with around 9,600 square feet of retail. Hotel guest amenities will include a fitness center and meeting space and 1,800 square foot roof deck.

Permit Pulled for $8M Renovation to The Inn At Brookline A building permit valued at 8M has been pulled for major renovations to the Inn at Brookline along Beacon Street. The project will include finish upgrades to all guest rooms and common space plus life safety system upgrades. The exterior of the building will also see envelope repairs and improvements. Construction is expected to last through September.

$4M Plumbing Permit Pulled for Canopy Hotel by Hilton Cannistraro has pulled a permit valued at $4M for the plumbing work at the upcoming Canopy Hotel by Hilton. The 7-story hotel will include 212 rooms along with 9,600 square feet of retail. Hotel guest amenities will include a fitness center and meeting space and 1,800 square foot roof deck.

Draper Elevator Interiors completes Uniquely designed Elevator Cabs at the Moxy Hotel Draper Elevator Interiors collaborated with Group One Partners to design, fabricate and install four highly custom elevator cabs at the Moxy Hotel in Boston's theater district. The hotel boasts a fun industrial-chic decor throughout the building, the elevator cabs are no exception. Custom back-lit blackened stainless steel bumper rails highlight antique mirror glass rear wall panels. Each elevator has its own unique image which can be seen peering through a 3D keyhole slot, creating a "backstage" theme.


286-290 Tremont Street

BPDA Approves 290 Tremont Street The Boston Planning Board has approved the mixed-use project on Parcel P-12C in Chinatown. The Tremont Street project will include a total of 168 affordable units, 63 condos & 105 apartments and 200 hotel rooms. The project will also include 2,500 square feet of retail space and 8,000 square feet of community space, that will be used for a branch of the public library. Currently, Chinatown is the only neighborhood in Boston that does not have a permanent branch of BPL. Numerous members of the community came out in support of the project and the approval vote was met with a round of applause from the crowd.

Onyx Hotel Addition Approved The 77 room addition to the Onyx Hotel in the Bulfinch Triangle has won approval from the BPDA. The new space will also add ground-floor retail and restaurant space along Portland Street plus rooftop amenity space. The hotel currently features 112 rooms.

NEMA Boston Refinanced for $187 Million NEMA Boston has been refinanced by Crescent Heights for $187 Million via Bank of China. NEMA Boston is a 22-story mixed-use tower featuring 414 apartment residences ranging from "micro" innovation units to three-bedrooms sustainably designed to achieve LEED certification.  NEMA Boston has been designed to reflect the Seaport's industrial heritage with interiors featuring raw steel features and stone floors.  Luxury resident amenities at NEMA Boston are housed on the 21st floor of the building, framed by stunning views of the Boston skyline and complemented by Crescent Heights' signature "Predictive Service," harmonizing genuine hospitality approach and leading-edge residential technology.

Site Work Underway for the Haymarket Hotel Site work is underway for the upcoming 6-story hotel along Blackstone Street at Haymarket. The new Canopy by Hilton Hotel will feature 212 guest rooms along with a fitness center and meeting space. The development team plans to open the hotel in late Q1 2021.

CO Issued for First Units at NEMA Boston A certificate of occupancy has been issued for the first units at NEMA Boston in the Seaport. The luxury apartment tower will feature 414 units total along with an array of resident amenities housed on the 21st floor of the building. Apartments range in size from "micro" innovation units to 3-bedrooms all offering premium design details and smart home ready features. 


Woburn Homewood Suites and Hampton Inn

Construction Complete for Hampton Inn and Homewood Suites in Woburn Construction is now complete on the dual-branded Hampton Inn & Homewood Suites Hotel in Woburn. The new six-story, 147,780-square-foot building boasts 235 total rooms, with 132 Hampton rooms and 103 Homewood suites. The hotel is part of the Woburn Landing redevelopment project, which was built on previously contaminated land and required special permitting. The property has incorporated numerous contemporary amenities for guests shared across both the Homewood Suites and Hampton Inn, including an indoor swimming pool, business, and fitness center, along with terraces, bars, lobbies, and kitchens designated for each hotel brand.    Photo courtesy: Warren Jagger


Onyx Hotel

Onyx Hotel Addition Now Under Review The proposed 9-story addition to the existing 112-room Onyx Hotel at 155 Portland Street is now under review. The roughly 40,000 square foot addition would include 77 new hotel rooms plus 2,000 square feet of ground-floor flexible retail/restaurant space and a rooftop amenity space. The project is designed to minimize disruption to existing hotel operations, as the existing hotel is expected to remain open during the duration of the construction period which is expected to begin in the 3rd quarter of 2020.

Haymarket Hotel Secures $75 Million in Financing Just five days after a building permit was granted, the Haymarket Hotel development has secured $75 million in financing from Citizens Bank. The 145,000 square foot Haymarket Hotel building will bring 225 hotel rooms and around 9,600 square feet of retail to a presently vacant 1.2-acre parcel located along the Greenway at the intersection of the North End and Downtown Boston. Hotel guest amenities will include a fitness center and meeting space and 1,800 square foot roof deck.
