The hotel will also include 120,000 square feet of meeting and event space including two large 25,000-square-foot and 15,500-square-foot ballrooms, 35,000 square feet of restaurant space, 5,000 square feet of retail space and an 8,500-square-foot spa and fitness center.

Construction Continues for Omni Boston Hotel at The Seaport
Construction continues for the Omni Boston Hotel at The Seaport. Framing is rising for one of the towers while facade install is ongoing on the other. The 21-story building will include 746 standard rooms and 278 innovation rooms. Hotel guests will have access to meeting and event space, a spa, a fitness center, and 400 off-site parking spaces. With the Boston Convention Center being a main draw to the hotel, there will be access to the BCEC via an existing underground tunnel.

$1.55M Permit Pulled for Future Chefs Fit-Out at The Clarion in Dorchester
Shawmut Design & Construction has pulled a permit valued at $1.55M for the fit-out of 5,700 square feet of ground-floor retail space at The Clarion in Dorchester. The space will be home to Future Chefs youth enrichment and culinary training program. The build-out will consist of a trade school and ground floor catering establishment with accessory offices.

A certificate of occupancy has been issued for The Clarion in Dorchester. The building on Blue Hill Ave includes 6,100 square feet of ground-floor retail, 38 apartments (one and two bedrooms) and 32 parking spaces. Of the 38 units, 25 are affordable per DNDs RFP requirements and 5 others are designated as workforce housing affordable to households between 75 and 100% of AMI.

BPDA Won't Grant Additional Extensions to Development Team of Tremont Crossing
At the end of this month, it will be back to the drawing board for the City-owned land at 1200 Tremont Street in Roxbury. As of 10/31, the designation of Feldco & Elma Lewis Partners as the developers of Parcel 3 will expire and the BPDA will not grant any further extensions. BPDA Director Golden told the Bay State Banner, “The residents of Roxbury deserve a development at Parcel 3 that will create good-paying jobs, economic development, affordable housing, cultural space and more,” Golden said in his statement. “While we are disappointed that the current project cannot move forward due to the development team’s lack of a viable funding source, we believe that opening this parcel up for new opportunities will allow for a community-led vision, guided by PLAN: Dudley, to determine the future of this important parcel.” The current plans for Tremont Crossing which were approved in March 2017 would have featured nearly 1.2M square feet of mixed-use development including over 700 residential units.

With the concrete cores on the site climbing, framing has also started for the upcoming Omni Hotel in Boston's busy Seaport. The 1,055 room hotel will feature the city's largest ballroom and a 4th-floor pool deck that will allow guests to host year-round events featuring views of the Boston skyline. The luxury hotel will also offer guests access to the Mokara Spa, a state of the art fitness center, and numerous dining options including a French brasserie & boulangerie. The Omni Seaport is set to open in early 2021.

Project Updates for The Rio Grande Presented to Impact Advisory Group
Earlier this month, the development team behind the proposed Rio Grande Project in Roxbury presented project updates to the Impact Advisory Group. The plans for the 26 story tower include 241 apartments along with 15,500 square feet of retail space and 28,555 square feet of office. The presentation also included the three-pronged financing strategy that will see The AFL/ CIO funding the debt for the residential component while also seeking equity investors and public funding through housing and other tax credits.
The construction, to be handled by Gilbane & Janey Construction Management, is expected to last 26 months once the building permit is received and will be completed in phases to allow for early renovation of existing historic structures.

Concrete cores are rapidly rising for the Omni Seaport Hotel. The massive, 1055 room hotel will offer direct access to the Boston Convention Center via an existing underground tunnel. The hotel will also include 120,000 square feet of meeting and event space including two large 25,000-square-foot and 15,500-square-foot ballrooms, 35,000 square feet of restaurant space, 5,000 square feet of retail space and an 8,500-square-foot spa and fitness center. The project is targeting LEED Silver certification and is expected to be complete in early 2021.
