57 new apartments proposed next to Newmarket Station in Roxbury

The Holland Companies proposes to construct a new 57-unit, primarily market-rate apartment building on one acre of land located at 13 Shetland Street in Roxbury steps to Newmarket Station on the Fairmount MBTA commuter rail line. Residences at 13 Shetland Street would include 27 studios, 18 one-bedrooms and 12 two-bedrooms, with desirable amenities including a clubroom, a fitness center, a 5,000-square-foot landscaped interior courtyard and a spacious common roof deck. The Holland Companies aims to start construction of the building this Fall, with completion expected in December 2018, and has filed plans for the project with the Boston Planning & Development Agency (BPDA), who is now reviewing the plans. 13 Shetland Street would replace an existing three-story, 4,815-square-foot building surrounded by surface parking. The Holland Companies acquired the project site for $1.75 million last July.
