Estero Council Approves Re-Zoning for New Mixed-Use Development

The Estero Council unanimously approved an ordinance to re-zone a 45.6-acre parcel, allowing a proposed mixed-use development to move forward. Woodfield Estero will bring 596 residential units along with a hotel, 82,000 square feet of retail and dining, office, and commercial space. Woodfield Estero will be located at the northwest corner of U.S. 41 and Coconut Road. The community is designed to be a walking community, with plans for open spaces and a linear public space going through the middle of the development, a large central green space with a stage for public events and a civic building. Additionally, the community will feature a neighborhood park with space for exercise equipment and playgrounds along with two retention lakes. A pedestrian street leasing into the central green, will serve as a restaurant row that will be the location of most of the dining and entertainment venues. The residential units will be a combination of multifamily and townhouses. The project will consist of four phases, the first phase will involve the construction of the majority of nonresidential components. Rowhomes, a three-story apartment building, a mixed-use office building and parking garage will comprise phase two. Phase three will include rowhomes, a residential clubhouse and the civic building. The final phase will involve constructing 182 apartments, 12 townhomes, and stacked flats.
