St. John's Terminal Update 08/26/22

Facade Work Finishes for Google's New Digs in Hudson Square

General contractor, Turner Construction Company, has now finished all facade and exterior work for the redeveloped St. John's Terminal building, in Manhattan's Hudson Square neighborhood.

Located at 550 Washington Street, the building was originally constructed in 1934, with only 3-stories. Oxford Properties Group bought the structure for $700 million back in 2017 and began a major renovation, starting in 2018. An additional 9-stories were added, and the interior was heavily redesigned, with COOKFOX Architects, leading the renovation efforts. The project is still ongoing but is expected to complete by 2023.

Last September, Google announced plans to purchase the St. John's Terminal building for a whopping $2.1 billion dollars from Oxford Properties. The 1.3 million square foot office building will be the largest of three buildings at Google's New York campus (315 Hudson Street and 345 Hudson Street are the other two). This purchase ranks as one of the most expensive single-structure office property sales in United States history.
