125 West End Avenue Update 11/10/22

Facade Work Finishes for Manhattan Life Sciences Lab

General contractor, , has finished installing facade materials at 125 West End Avenue; an 8-story building on Manhattan's Upper West Side undergoing a major renovation that will turn it into a state-of-the-art life sciences and research laboratory.

Developed by , with serving as the renovation architect, the square foot facility will be known as "West End Labs".

During the tear-down phase of the project, the team essentially gutted the building down to its shell and core. New lab infrastructure, office space, lobby areas, mechanical rooms, elevators, and loading dock upgrades were then installed and the entire structure was wrapped in a sleek exterior cladding.

Several amenities, such as a roof deck terrace, and a conference facility were also added. The team was also able to repurpose a corkscrew vehicle ramp, turning it into multiple collaborative workspaces.

West End Labs will become one of the most advanced life science labs in the city when it completes in the spring of 2023. The building will achieve Leed Gold certification and is set to boast the largest lab floorplates in all of NYC at 54,000 square feet a piece.
