Facade Work Finishing Up at Wildflower Studios

Constantine Panagakos, a lead engineer at J.C. Steel Erectors, has shared photos of the facade installation progress at Wildflower Studios; a 7-story movie production facility going up at 35-15 19th Avenue in Astoria, Queens. The project will reportedly have over 900 precast concrete facade panels, with many pieces weighing over 45,000 lbs.

Developed by , the 775,000-square-foot studio aims to revolutionize Astoria's movie production industry. Its design was created by the world-renowned architectural firm, , in partnership with Hollywood elites, Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal.

Set to become the first vertical film studio in the world, the facility will have 11 sound stages, with extra tall floors, and a multi-story entrance that can accommodate large trucks for production operations.

Plans also call for a 310-vehicle parking lot for employees, and 34,620 square feet of public outdoor space, along the banks of the neighboring, Luyster Creek.

 is serving as the general contractor for the project. Moving forward, if all goes to plan and construction proceeds without delays, Wildflower Studios will likely open its doors sometime in early 2024.
