Facade Work Underway for Large Brooklyn Affordable Project

Developer and general contractor, , has shared photos of the construction progress at 1607 Surf Avenue; a 10-story mixed-use project, going up in Brooklyn's Coney Island neighborhood. The structure, with the exception of the ground floor, now sports its full brick facade, and at this time, the windows are starting to go in as well.

The building is set to feature rental apartments, offered in a variety of sizes, ranging from studios to three-bedroom setups. All of the units will be dedicated to affordable housing programs, and approximately 57 units will be reserved specifically for formerly homeless residents.

Tenant amenities are to include a fitness center, a children’s playroom, a party room, and a lounge. In addition to residential space, the building will feature square feet of ground-floor retail space, 9,000 square feet of community space, and a 2,500 square-foot, primary care facility, which will be operated by the New York City Health and Hospital Corp. Plans also call for an enclosed parking garage, with enough room for vehicles.

The project site sits just a block away from the beach and the Coney Island Boardwalk. Designed by , 1607 Surf Avenue stands feet tall and totals square feet. Construction is expected to wrap up by the Summer of 2024.
