Fairfax County Files Rezoning Plans for Judicial Complex Redevelopment
Fairfax County has filed rezoning plan application documents for the further redevelopment of the 47.8-acre Judicial Complex site. Currently, a 170,000-square-foot office building is under construction and the Massey building has also been demolished. Over the next 20 years, Fairfax County is proposing a maximum development of approximately 2.3 million square feet (1.3 million sf existing and 1.0 million proposed). The additional 1.0 million square feet will be spread amongst five new buildings and a minor addition to the Historic Courthouse to provide a new entrance off West Street (see chart below). Plans include 300 affordable housing units.
