Father Bill's & Mainspring Ribbon-Cutting
Dellbrook|JKS celebrated the ribbon-cutting of Father Bill’s & Mainspring’s Yawkey Housing Resource Center, a new hub and homeless shelter designed by the Narrow Gate Architecture, on the morning of June 15th, 2023.
The charitable organization invited local officials, community leaders, project partners, and other supporters of Father Bill’s & Mainspring to the Yawkey Housing Resource Center for tours of the building and a ceremony to follow. Located directly across the street from Father Bill’s former Quincy location, the center will accommodate a larger population of individuals struggling with housing insecurity.
President & CEO of Father Bill’s & Mainspring, John Yazwinski, introduced the many programs and opportunities that will be available at the new center, like medical care, Veterans Affairs, along with substance abuse and behavioral health treatment providers, stating, “…At Father Bill’s place now, we can’t bring all the services in, it’s too small, but a resource center, is exactly that. People will come here not just because they are experiencing homelessness, we want people to come here or call us when they start facing a housing crisis”.
The Yawkey Housing Resource Center, totaling 36,000 square feet, will offer more space for guests and areas tailored to Father Bill’s mission of ending homelessness. To create the new center, Dellbrook|JKS constructed two conjoined buildings in phases. Phase 1 brought the resource center to life, a 2-story structure that includes a dining facility with a full commercial kitchen, a 10-bed respite facility, dormitory sleeping quarters, and more. Phase 2, Broad Street Housing, consisted of building a 4-story structure with 30 units of Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH).
“Our team is grateful for having been given the opportunity to play a key role in a development such as this. We’re excited for Father Bill’s & Mainspring to put their new facility to use in the coming months,” said Eric Tanery, Project Manager at Dellbrook|JKS.
