First Residents Welcomed to South Alex Community
400-unit mixed-use apartment community in Alexandria, Virginia with 45,000 square feet of retail anchored by an ALDI supermarket.
The community features a fitness center with a climbing wall, yoga studio with barre, resort-style heated saltwater pool, courtyard with fire pit, lounge with an indoor/outdoor bar area, coworking space, conference room, and controlled-access parking garage with EV charging stations.
South Alex's one- and two-bedroom units feature high-end finishes such as quartz countertops and EnergyStar® appliances.
The project's location next to a dry cleaner posed unique challenges; it required underpinning and vibration monitoring to maintain the facade's structural support while CBG demolished the remaining wall of a previously existing building and poured new building footings.
