HPD Seeking Development Partner for Rockaways Neighborhood
The Edgemere neighborhood of Queens, located on the Rockaway Peninsula, was one of the hardest-hit communities by Hurricane Sandy in 2012. In fact, the 20 block section, extending from Beach 32nd to Beach 52nd Street, still hasn't fully recovered and is in dire need of redevelopment. The NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) has just announced the need for a development partner to help realize its Resilient Edgemere vision; an initiative that seeks to revitalize the Edgemere neighborhood and develop affordable housing complexes for the local community. The HPD has issued a Request for Expressions of Interest in order to allow developers to submit proposals. The department will also host a pre-submission conference on July 21st.
