Lakeforest Mall Redevelopment Wins Approval
The Gaithersburg Planning Commission has approved the zoning map amendment and sketch plan for the redevelopment of the 102-acre Lakeforest Mall site. The development would feature over 1 million square feet of commercial space and 1,600 residential units. The residential units will include a mix of multi-family (rental and ownership), townhomes, and GAP housing (2 over 2, triplex, et al.). The commercial space would include 750,000 square feet of office/R&D space, 250,000 square feet of large format retail, and 220,000 square feet of neighborhood-scaled commercial and entertainment/amusement uses.
