Pile Driving in Progress for 40-Story Greenpoint Tower

General contractor, Monadnock Construction, is currently very far along in the excavation process for a 40-story residential tower, set to rise at 16 Dupont Street in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.

At this point, not only is drilling work well underway, but a pile driver is now on site, slamming steel supports into the ground. Many piles will be needed for structural rigidity because of Brooklyn's lower-lying bedrock formations and somewhat soft soil layers.

As this is going on, concrete is also arriving on-site to fill these support piles.

Finally, sheet piles are being installed around the perimeter walls to prevent them from caving in.

Jointly developed by Park Tower Group and The Rockefeller Group, the tower is set to contain  apartment units. Plans also call for square feet of commercial space (likely ground floor retail), and an enclosed parking garage, with enough room for vehicles.

Designed by Gerner, Kronick + Valcarcel Architects, 16 Dupont Street will stand feet tall and total square feet. Construction is estimated to take until the spring of 2025.
