About Harvard Countway Library
10 Shattuck Street, Longwood Medical Area, Boston, MA
The Francis A. Countway Library of Medicine is one of the largest medical libraries in the world. Countway serves the Harvard Medical School (HMS), Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Harvard School of Dental Medicine, Boston Medical Library, and the Massachusetts Medical Society.
Countway houses the Center for the History of Medicine, the Brigham and Women's Hospital Archives, the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health Archives, and the Warren Anatomical Museum.
Currently, the Library is undergoing a $10M renovation that will create a program and space that is reflective of a 21st Century Health Science & Medical Library. The project will also add a café to the space and move the library's main entrance to Huntington Avenue, with a new bridge between the library the Longwood Medical area.
The building will remain open during renovations, with certain areas blocked off. Renovations are expected to be complete by the fall of 2020.
