About Artists for Humanity Expansion
100 West Second Street, South Boston, Boston, MA
30,000-square-foot expansion of Artists for Humanity's existing 23,500-square-foot headquarters completed in 2004. The expansion facility will be Boston's first energy-positive building, producing more energy than it uses. The Artists for Humanity Expansion will provide additional space for events, programming, education and creativity, doubling the number of young people the organization can employ yearly to over 500.
With the expansion, Artists for Humanity will launch the Liberty Mutual Career Center, which will train youth in skills necessary for building trades success and support youth in union apprenticeships. The expansion will also feature a new maker studio, which will be open to the public and provide access to state-of-the-art studios and equipment, in addition to gallery space and Artists for Humanity's first store.
