About 601 Congress Street - Seaport Science Center
Seaport District, Boston, MA
601 Congress is a 14-story 485,000 square foot Class-A office and lab-ready building. The building offers floor-to-ceiling windows and sweeping views of the Boston Harbor and Skyline along with a 6-story atrium, rooftop garden, and fitness center. The building's curtain wall design reduces energy costs by up to 6%. Previously used as as John Hancock's headquarters, the building was acquired by BioMed Realty in January 2021.
The building is now being converted from a single-tenant office building into a life sciences/office building. It is anticipated that approximately half of the building will be utilized as office space and the other half as laboratory space. Renovations include reactivation of the ground floor with an approximately 3,000 square foot retail/restaurant space and upgrades to the building entry and common spaces.
