City of Cambridge Approves Changes to Affordable Housing Overlay Update 10/18/23

City of Cambridge Approves Changes to Affordable Housing Overlay

The Cambridge City Council has voted to approve changes to the City's Affordable Housing Overlay ordinance, originally passed in 2020. With over 20,000 people on the City's affordable housing waitlist, the new rules aim to streamline approvals and allow for larger developments. The changes allow for 100% affordable projects to be built taller, with projects in designated AHO corridors now allowed to reach 9- 15 stories. The amendment also eliminates setbacks and in most cases sets no maximum FAR.
