Vulcan Materials Site Mixed-Use Development Wins Approval
The Alexandria City Council has approved multiple special permits for the redevelopment of the former Vulcan Materials Site along South Van Dorn Street. The multi-phased project would include a 256-room hotel with ground-floor retail, and 323 residential units comprised of townhouses, stacked townhouses, and six midrise condominium buildings. The proposal also includes a series of new streets and a 6-acre park. Environmental remediation of the 18-acre Brownfields site could take a year or more to complete.
