    Demolition Nearly Complete for 117 Broadway in Arlington Demolition of a single-story commercial structure at 117 Broadway in Arlington is nearly complete. The demo will make for 1 of the 3 buildings in the upcoming Downing Square/117 Broadway affordable housing project being developed by The Housing Corporation of Arlington. The 117 Broadway site will feature a new four-story building that will include 14 residential units and ground-floor retail space for Arlington EATS Market plus 17 parking spaces. The Park Avenue buildings within the project will feature 34 units total and parking for 23 cars.  Photo: Housing Corporation of Arlington

    Permits Pulled for Buildings C & D at The indigo Block Two building permits valued at $1.3M have been pulled for buildings C & D at the Indigo Block in Dorchester. These two buildings located along Hillsboro Street will offer homeownership units, all featuring 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. Construction is already underway for the other buildings in the project, a 6-story, 80 unit apartment building and a two-story commercial building to feature light industrial and office space.

    Plumbing Permit Pulled for Cote Village A plumbing permit has been pulled for the Cote Village development in Mattapan. The mixed-use project will feature 76 affordable residential units along with 4,172 square feet of ground-floor commercial space. The development will also include a 12,000 square foot public plaza with 84 parking spaces.

    Project Change Approved for Dudley Crossing A notice of project change filed this past October has now been approved for 387-397 Dudley Street in Roxbury. The new construction building will contain 24 income-restricted units while the other two 204-210 Hampden Street, 2-4 Dunmore Street, will undergoing extensive renovations.

    Early Stage Site Work Ongoing for Indigo Block in Dorchester Early-stage site work is ongoing along East Cottage Street in Dorchester for the upcoming Indigo Block mixed-use development. When complete the project will feature 80 apartments, 44 of which will be designated affordable, eight townhouse-style condos plus a two-story commercial building to include light industrial and office space. Parking for 86 vehicles will also be constructed on-site.

    Dorchester Development Secures $34.21 Million in Financing The Indigo Block development in Dorchester has secured $34.21 million in construction financing via Eastern Bank and Mass Housing. Indigo Block is an upcoming 125,400 square foot development project consisting of residential apartments, homeownership condominiums, and light industrial commercial space. Parking for 86 vehicles will be constructed on-site. 80 residential apartments will be constructed in an 86,000 square foot building. 44 apartments will be designated affordable.

    Cote Village Breaks Ground The Cote Village Apartments and Townhomes, officially broke ground earlier this week in  Mattapan. The project will feature 76 units, all designated affordable between 30% and 100% AMI. Mayor Walsh attended the ceremony and spoke on the project  “The City of Boston is proud to support these new developments as part of our commitment to keeping housing affordable and keeping neighborhoods strong,” said Mayor Walsh. “I want to thank all partners involved for their work to create this housing that will be affordable at a variety of income levels, and that will bring new economic opportunities to the area. This is a great day for the Mattapan community and the City of Boston."

The project along East Cottage Ave. will feature a total of 80 apartments, 44 of which will be designated affordable plus a two-story commercial building offering light industrial and office space. Four new buildings containing eight residential townhouse-style condominiums will also be constructed on-site.

The approved mixed-use project to include 76 residential units and 4,172 square feet of ground-floor commercial space in Mattapan. Units will range in size from one to three bedrooms. The project will also include a 12,000 square foot public plaza with 84 parking spaces. 

    Haynes House Apartments

    Work Ongoing for Facade Replacement at The Haynes House Construction is ongoing for the renovation of the Haynes House in Roxbury, originally built in 1974. The renovation plan will generally include significant building envelope improvements with the demolition and replacement of the building’s exterior masonry facade, 100% window replacement, and improved accessible front and rear entrances. It also includes required life safety system upgrades, energy efficiency enhancements, new accessible units, and selective unit and common area upgrades. The 7-story building features 131 affordable family rental apartments.

    Building Permits Pulled for Cote Village in Mattapan A series of building permits have been issued for the 5 buildings in the Cote Village development in Mattapan. The permits are valued at over $20M and include the construction of 24 new townhouses along Regis Road. The project will also convert the garage at 820 Cummins highway into a 52 unit building with the addition of 4 levels to the existing structure. Along with a total of 76 units the project will also offer over 4,100 square feet of commercial space plus parking for 84 cars. 

    Squirrelwood Apartments
    - Nov 22, 2019

    Construction Continues for Squirrelwood Apartments Construction is ongoing for the Squirrelwood Apartments in Cambridge, just a few blocks from busy Kendall Square. This project includes the renovation of ten existing buildings and construction of two new infill buildings, along with an addition to an existing building. The headquarters of Squirrel Brand Company converted into 20 units of multi-family housing in 2000, is now known as Squirrel Brand Apartments. The building sits on the State Register of Historic Places and will be rehabbed to meet historic preservation standards. This building will remain occupied during construction and will require close coordination for the selective interior renovations planned in addition to the exterior work. Completion is slated for September 2020.
