2Life Communities Breaks Ground on 62 Unit Senior Housing Development in Brookline Late last week, 9/13, 2Life Communities officially broke ground on The Harold & Ronald Brown Family House in Brookline. The 62 unit senior housing project will be added to the Congregation Kehillath Israel (KI) campus. The state-of-the-art building will feature a mix of one and two bedrooms along with 1,000 square feet of commercial space and a new pocket park on Harvard Street.

Plumbing Permit Pulled for Westminster House in Roxbury A plumbing permit, with an estimated value of $500K, has been pulled for the upcoming affordable housing development Westminster House in Roxbury.  The building will include 32 rental units, 9 of which will be reserved for homeless or formerly homeless families.    

Union Point

Eventide Phase II Assisted Living Taking Shape at Union Point Framing is nearly complete for Eventide Phase II at Union Point in Weymouth. The 4-story 162,000 square foot building will include a total of 107 units of assisted living. The first phase of the project, Fairing Way features a 104 residential unit senior living community with a clubhouse and a 46 bed, on-site, long term care nursing facility.  

Vita JP

Windows In Place for Vita JP Windows are in place, including those for the tower element that defines the entryway to this new condo project in JP. Facade work is also ongoing with masonry in place for the ground floor which will be home to a Planet Fitness. Vita JP will feature 82 luxury condos, garage parking, and a roof deck amenity space for residents. Units are expected to be ready for occupancy this fall.    

Westminster House

Foundation Work Underway for Westminster House in Roxbury Foundation work is ongoing along Washington Street in Roxbury for the upcoming Westminster House. The four-story project is set to include 32 affordable rental units, 9 of which will be reserved for homeless families. Along with the rental units the building will also contain public meeting space, classrooms, and childcare facilities. 

Exchange 200
- Aug 06, 2019

Caffè Nero Coming to Exchange 200 in Malden With a permit issued in late July, Berkeley Investments has now announced the start of construction on Exchange 200 in Malden Center. Berkeley has also confirmed Caffe Nero as the first retail tenant for the transformative 300,000 square foot mixed-use project.  The transit-oriented property located in the heart of Malden Center will be transformed into a modern facility that can accommodate new creative office and flex/R&D space, data center, potential lab, and life science users, and ground-floor retail and restaurants.  Caffè Nero, the premium European coffee house, will occupy over 2,500 square feet of space on the building’s ground floor, including outdoor patio seating.  

Madison Melnea Cass Apartments

CO Issued for Madison Melnea Cass Apartments A certificate of occupancy has been issued for the first 60 apartments in the Madison Melnea Cass development in Roxbury. The 5-story building at 40 Raynor Circle features 1, 2, and 3 bedrooms. In total the project will feature 76 homes, 39 of which are designated affordable, at either 60% or 100% AMI.

Permit Issued for Renovations at Exchange 200 in Malden A building permit has been issued the renovations to the existing office building at 200 Exchange Street in Malden Center. The permit includes selective interior and exterior demolition along with the upgrade of mechanical systems. When complete Exchange 200 will offer over 300,000 square feet of new creative office, data center and ground-floor retail and restaurant space. Upgrades to the space will also include a lobby redesign along with a fitness facility.

The project will feature a total of 76 units at different levels of affordability ranging from deeply affordable to market rate.

Framing Complete for Vita JP Framing is in place for the upcoming 82 unit condo project Vita JP. The project, set to open this summer, will feature a mix of 1, 2, and 3 bedroom residences just minutes from Forest Hills Station. Resident amenities will include a roof deck, community room, pet spa, and a community garden.  The first floor of the building will be home to Planet Fitness.

Union Point

Washington Capital Retains Tocci For Union Point Rendering courtesy of Elkus Manfredi Architects Washington Capital Management, Inc., on behalf of one or more investment management clients, has retained Tocci Building Corporation to provide development support services for Union Point. The property is the 1400 acre redevelopment of the South Weymouth Naval Air Station formerly known as Southfield. Tocci will assist Washington Capital with land use documentation and selection of a new Master Developer. Services include liaison with the Southfield Redevelopment Authority and landowner responsibilities. Tocci was the former Program Manager for Union Point through 2017 and provided a broad range of planning and construction services.      

132 Chestnut Hill Avenue

CO Issued for 132 Chestnut Hill Avenue A certificate of occupancy has been issued for The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg House at 132 Chestnut Hill Avenue in Brighton. The senior housing development features 61 affordable apartments and 3,500 square feet of ground-floor retail. Seven residences will be reserved for formerly homeless seniors, and five residences will be reserved for seniors with lifelong disabilities. A second-floor pedestrian bridge connects 132 Chestnut Hill Avenue to 2Life Communities existing 700-unit campus and amenities.
